The excellent sports conditions in Bečej have produced top athletes and outstanding sports achievements. Given the town’s population and the number of elite clubs, Bečej earned the title of a “City of Sports” by the end of the 20th century.
The Institution for Youth Sports and Cultural Activities “Đorđe Predin – Badža” began operating in 1988. Located near the Iodine Spa, the Tisa River, and Goranski Park, and just a hundred meters from the city center, this magnificent facility dominates the area. Covering 16,900 m², it provides exceptional conditions for various activities, including: an outdoor swimming pool complex (featuring a large Olympic pool and pools with thermal spa water), an indoor pool facility, a sports hall with a spectator stand, a gym and fitness centre, a shooting range and sauna, judo and karate halls, tennis courts and a basketball court, hospitality facilities.
Outdoor swimming pools
The outdoor swimming pool complex includes an Olympic pool and two pools with therapeutic thermal water, designed for young children and non-swimmers. Additional amenities include volleyball and basketball courts. During the summer season, lifeguard and security services ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors..
Indoor swimming pools
The indoor facility features an Olympic pool (33 x 25 m) and a training pool for non-swimmers (12 x 6 m). The pools host swimming and water polo competitions for younger categories and offer programs such as aqua fitness, swimming school, and training for swimming and water polo clubs. Throughout the year, optimal temperature and water quality are maintained. Visitors also have access to showers, a sauna, and locker rooms with sanitary facilities.
Large sports hall
The large sports hall (1,500 m²) meets all requirements for basketball, handball, volleyball, futsal, and other sports activities. The hall is air-conditioned, and its spectator stand can accommodate 2,500 visitors with telescopic seating. Its multifunctionality is achieved through a movable curtain system, allowing the space to be divided into three separate areas, making it suitable for various sports such as volleyball, basketball, and gymnastics. Additionally, the hall has three auxiliary courts for basketball and volleyball, along with six extra basketball hoops for training.
Tennis courts & gyms
Nestled near Goranski Park with a scenic view of the Tisa River, the facility includes three clay courts and one concrete court, suitable for both recreational and competitive tennis. The institution also operates two gyms, offering a wide range of fitness programs and group training sessions.
